Local Public Lands

The Ranch centrally located to provide access to offers direct access to public established equestrian trails and corridors.

Public Land Distance Day Length Difficulty
"BLM" Section 6 1/2 mile to the north Easy days to  ++++ Easy to moderate
Joshua Tree National Park 1.25 mile to the east Longer days Moderate to difficult
Other less known public lands Immediate access from the ranch's "North Trail" Short to long Advanced riding skill required.
The Ranch has it own system of trails and roads and access to some of the nicest horseback riding in California and some of the best western riding found anywhere.  Some of this access is along public easements like roads but other access is by private agreement with landowners.  We are excited that the newly adopted Joshua Tree Community Plan and County General Plan signals the county's commitment to expanded use of equestrian trails and guaranteed equestrian access to public lands.

Ranch "Trail" System

The Ranch has an system of equestrian trails, corridors and roads which offer excellent riding opportunities in and of itself.  The difficulty level ranges from easy (roads) to difficult (short, steep, uneven and difficult).  Maps of the area are available upon request.

Equestrian Access - Use of Public Roads -  Concern & Complaints

Equestrians must be mindful that not everyone appreciates horse with the same enthusiasm that they do.   In fact, many people consider horses a nuisance and an unwelcome addition to public roads. The Ranch continues to work with local land owners and concerned citizens about public and private access.  While the equestrians that raise and train horses at the Ranch can not be responsible for action by the "non ranch riders" in Joshua Tree, "ranch riders" and "ranch management" want to accept the responsibility of being a sounding board for community concern.  If you have a concern or or a complaint, please e-mail Concerns&Complaints@JoshuaTreeRanch.Com
